From the overwhelming tragedy of 9/11/01, Kalman finds a particular story among the many instances of heroism. She tells of the John P. Harvey fireboat, and in relating the heroism of that boat and its captain and crew, suggests faith in the best of humanity. Her text is straightforward in its facts but the addition of her vibrant illustrations give an endearing warmth of character to the little boat.
