In Lawson’s wordless picture book, a father and his daughter take an ordinary walk through town. The girl picks up flowers she finds along the way while her father’s attention is elsewhere. Smith’s illustrations include more color as the book unfolds and bring to life a gentle reminder to us all: small things matter, and perhaps too often go unappreciated, except by a child.
